WELCOME

Welcome to the Department of Surveying, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Remote Sensing at the Faculty of Humanities, Egyptian Chinese University (ECU), Egypt, where innovation meets geospatial science to prepare the next generation of professionals in mapping, spatial analysis, and Earth observation.

Our Mission: We are committed to providing high-quality education in surveying, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Remote Sensing, empowering students with scientific knowledge, technical expertise, and practical skills to address real-world spatial challenges. Our mission is to contribute to sustainable development through geospatial technologies, research, and community engagement.

Academic Programs: Our program offers a comprehensive curriculum that integrates the principles of land surveying, cartography, geodesy, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), digital mapping, spatial databases, photogrammetry, and geospatial data analysis. Students gain both theoretical foundations and hands-on experience using industry-standard software and modern surveying equipment.

Our Faculty: Our academic staff consists of dedicated professors, researchers, and experienced professionals specializing in surveying engineering, GIS, Remote Sensing, spatial analysis, environmental monitoring, urban planning, and geoinformatics. They are committed to delivering high-quality education, conducting impactful research, and mentoring students to become future leaders in the geospatial field.

Research Focus: Our research activities cover a wide range of topics, including land use and land cover mapping, urban growth analysis, environmental monitoring, disaster management, precision agriculture, climate change assessment, smart cities, spatial modeling, satellite image processing, geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI), and digital transformation through geospatial technologies. We collaborate with governmental agencies, research institutions, and industry partners to develop innovative solutions for national and global challenges.

Facilities and Resources: We provide modern surveying laboratories equipped with Total Stations, GNSS/GPS receivers, UAV (drone) technologies, advanced computer laboratories, and licensed GIS and Remote Sensing software such as ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, ERDAS Imagine, ENVI, and other specialized geospatial tools. These facilities enable students to gain practical experience and support cutting-edge research.

Industry Connections: We maintain strong partnerships with government organizations, surveying companies, GIS and Remote Sensing firms, urban planning agencies, environmental organizations, and technology providers. Through internships, field training, research collaborations, and professional workshops, students develop practical experience and build valuable industry connections.

Community Engagement: We actively contribute to society by promoting geospatial awareness through workshops, training programs, scientific conferences, and community projects. Our department supports initiatives related to sustainable development, environmental conservation, disaster risk reduction, and digital transformation using GIS and Remote Sensing technologies.

Join Our Community: Become part of a dynamic academic environment where innovation, technology, and scientific discovery come together. At the Department of Surveying, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Remote Sensing, we prepare future geospatial professionals to map, analyze, and shape a smarter and more sustainable world.
