1. Program Mission

The mission of the Mechatronics Engineering program is to prepare graduates who specialize in Mechatronics engineering and who are able to compete in Egyptian as well as in regional and international labor markets, by virtue of their acquired knowledge, skills, professionalism and ethics.
Thus, the program mission could be defined as:

PM1. Equip students with a systematic knowledge and understanding of mathematics and
engineering science relevant to mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering.
PM2. Provide student with detailed knowledge and understanding of scientific principles
relevant to mechatronics systems and their control units.
PM3. Develop the analytical and practical skills appropriate for designing an integrated
mechatronic system that meets its design requirements.
PM4. Provide students with skills required to measure system states to be able to assess system’s
performance and decide appropriate corrective control actions to be taken.
PM5. Produce graduates that manage their learning and undertake continuing professional
development.

2. Program Aims

The main aims of the “Mechatronics Engineering” program are to study and research in mechatronic engineering multi-disciplines with the proper scientific knowledge and develop his/her skills to:

PA 1. Apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering concepts to the solution of
engineering problems.

PA 2. Design an element, module and system to meet the required needs within realistic
constraints.
PA 3. Design and conduct experiments as well as analyze and interpret their data.
PA 4. Identify, formulate and solve fundamental engineering problems.
PA 5. Use the techniques, skills, and appropriate engineering tools, necessary for engineering
practice and project management.
PA 6. Work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
PA 7. Communicate effectively.
PA 8. Consider the impacts of engineering solutions on society & environment.
PA 9. Demonstrate knowledge of contemporary engineering issues.
PA 10. Display professional and ethical responsibilities; and contextual understanding
PA 11. Engage in self- and life- long learning.
PA 12. Apply the principles of sustainable system design and development.
PA 13. Use of mathematics and physical and engineering sciences and system analysis tools in
the design, analysis, implementation and control of multi-disciplinary mechatronics
projects and products.
PA 14. Use different instruments, devices and tools appropriately and carry-out wide range of
experiments, automatic data acquisition, data analysis and interpretation, and data
presentation, both orally and in the written form.
PA 15. Use the computer software for design, communication, and visualization.
PA 16. Demonstrate the ability to integrate different off-the-shelf items along with designed parts
to reach a functioning system that operates within its design requirements.
PA 17. Analyze multi-disciplinary mechanical, electrical, electronic, thermal, and hydraulic
systems.
PA 18. Lead and supervise groups of engineers, technicians, and other work force members.
